The Zen Of Clint Eastwood

What’s going on inside Jimmy Devious’ head today??

Well, I thought we’d try out a little Thrilling Cinema Thursday this week. And since MY vote is the ONLY vote that counts here…I win!

Yippee. 😉

Instead of doing the usual TCT film review this time, I thought I’d reflect a bit in totale’ at the career of one of my all-time favorite actors, but of course, the “living legend” Mr. Clint Easwood

Why has his “legend” grown so much, why has he remained so “endearing” to the general movie-going people? For one, because he’s so damn ollld and lasted so long! 😉

(Mostly kidding, please Mr. Eastwood, don’t kill me!! Ha 🙂 )

And two, because he’s the last real man in movies. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, my generation has NO STAND-OUT ALL MAN LEADING MEN. My generation DESPERATELY needs “it’s own Clint Eastwood.”

Probably not going to happen, I mean, we’re the male-loofah generation, but it could. The blueprint of what it takes to be such a “real” man, or even a stand-out PERSON is all right there in the deep philosophical statements in Eastwood films.

Let us look together shall we, at just a few of these fine “nuggets of eternal wisdom” found within the great Clint Eastwood film-o-rama….

“A Man has got to know his limitations.”

Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry

A classic line, quoted almost as often as the infamous “6 shots or 5” line, but it is so very true. Too often today, we are literally SURROUNDED by people with no sense of boundaries, no sense of ethics, no sense of…well…SENSE! They think they can literally do ANYTHING they want, be a rock-star/ice cream man/PHD Paleontologist, talk too loudly on a cellphone in a movie theatre, take a crap in a wall urinal, whatever… (Ewww 😛 )

The sooner you learn this one, the better off we will all be in society. 😉

“Are you gonna pull them pistols boy, or whistle Dixie?”

Clint Eastwood Josey Wales

In today’s world we see it all the time, people talk and talk and talk….a LOT of “smack:” but how often are they all show and no big blow?

At some point, whether we like it or not, you’re going to have to do something, no matter whether you’re shooting hoops at the playground, a braggadocious NFL egomaniac making boasts about his player prowess on the gridiron, or giving a presentation in front of a board meeting.

Put up or shut up!

“LITTLE BILL: I was building a house. I don’t deserve to die like this!!

WILL MUNNY; Deserves’got nothing to do with it.”

Clint Eastwood Will Munny

Life is hard. Life isn’t fair. Life isn’t easy. We may think we all DESERVE a flashy car, a cellphone, a big screen TV, or a life with no bumps in the road, and to live forever….but we don’t.

Some mass murders die in prison quietly of old age, while a young woman minding her own business, takes a TIRE TO THE FACE while watching a NASCAR race. (What??  It was a famous freak accident, look it up! 😉 )

Life’s tough shite sometimes. That’s just the way it is, no one can make utopia-Utopia. Just accept it.

“It’s what people know about themselves inside that makes them afraid.”

Clint Eastwood High Plains Drifter

We see all manner of “gutter-sniping” in today’s world, on TV, in newspapers, among fanboy bloggers in their Spidey PeeJaays trolling each other about which “era” of this comic book is better than that one and on and on…

Basic deeper point, when you hear someone say they really REALLY hate something, or say that someone else makes them uncomfortable, it often says more about the OTHER PERSON than it does about their target.

It’s often more about the “player hater’s” own shortcomings than the hated…..it’s often a little something called…Insecurity or maybe even Guilt. 😛

How often to we see someone loudly accuse someone else for stealing all the office doughnuts when THEY themselves, the accuser, is only so pissed off because THEY DIDN’T THINK TO STEAL THEM FIRST??

Food for thought. 😉

“Everybody’s got a right to be a sucker once.”

Clint Eastwood Man With No Name

I could make an obvious “political reference” here but I won’t. It’s like when you were a kid. What usually happened when you did something you weren’t supposed to do??

Right, You got a little warning, but if you were dumb enough to do it again, then it fell on your head and you got swatted all up and down the behind with a paddle…..err…I mean, like, PUNISHED and stuff. 😛 😀

When you’re a grown up, you’ll still make mistakes, but all that paddling…punishment as a kid served a purpose. It was SUPPOSED to have prepared you for the fac that, as an adult, when you screw up a lot …it hurts. A LOT!

In today’s day and age, we seem to be creating a culture of perpetual “suckerdom” or of entire industries, governments, and people forever AVOIDING RESPONSIBLITY FOR THEIR SCREWUPS.

But, the reckoning always comes. Whether it be in the bill that’s due, being grounded for a week when Mom finds out you snuck out with your friends, or if happens to be a gravel-voiced baddass who’s really REALLY good at shooting people down with a six-shooter, the payback ALWAYS comes!!

See?? Between all of Clint’s wiseass lines and the body counts, you can learn something meaningful about life, if you try! 🙂

And I think that’ll do for today. You want some wisdom? Go watch an Eastwood film. I tell you, in a hundred years, he’ll be as famous for deep thoughts as Lao Tzu…

( “Whooooooo??” )

Nevermind! 😛  LOL

CAUTION: If you see this man spit, lift up a pacho, or glower heavily with those eyebrows, you’d better run,
